It forces us to decide whether an activity is a sport, and it may be seen differently around the world. For example “chess”, is this a sport everywhere?
What about racing and other motor sports?
Horse riding? Sailing?
Are we distinguishing professional from amateurial sports, and competitive sports from leisure activities? How is it done?
Looking at actual numbers, it is clear that club=sport is the established scheme and every other values just outliers: https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/club#values
