[Tagging] Adding address tags to street-side containers

I think the information should be added to OSM but must not be tagged in
the same way as the address on the actual house.
I found this little used tag scheme which is used to add addresses to man
made objects.

I would like to see something like this widely adopted as Lamp posts in my
city are referred to as having a street name and number. The address is
particularly relevant where an object is at an intersection and you are not
sure which street it is assigned to. The council originally put stickers on
the posts, but they get lost.
