when they don’t speak English and have different types of „bakeries“, things become more complicated though. If you ask locals about a „bakery“ it may depend what word(s) your dictionary translates it to, whether they‘d consider it such.

yes, but motorway is an exception because it is usually defined by signs rather than characteristics (e.g. if the signs are missing but it looks and feels like, we use motorroad=yes in some countries)
