If you have some specific examples, I'd be interested to discuss them in more
detail. Maybe coordinates of some places you're thinking about?

incorrectly tagged as natural=wetland in OSM:

That sounds like it could be a "braid bar" or "point bar" to me. Would these
references fit what you're thinking of in Italy?
