If a data consumer wishes to calculate total residential areas, 
including parks, cemeteries or schools within the areas will return 
greater inaccurate data.

Removing parks, cemeteries or schools from within residential areas 
increases the accuracy of the OSM database.

The place tag is predominately mapped as a node.

The name of a place applies to all landuses in that area, not just 
residential.

Parks, cemeteries & schools are not "areas of land having predominantly 
residential buildings such as houses or apartment buildings"
