[talk-au] Why aren't my maps rendered? (yes I have read the FAQ!)

Hello,

I suppose an intro would be appropriate first. 
I live in Queanbeyan and "discovered" OSM a couple of weeks ago. I
started mapping over a week ago. I have previously submitted tracks,
etc, to other mapping efforts such as T4A but the concept of actually
creating and fixing maps yourself has me very interested. OSM seems just
about perfect.

Anyway, for just about a whole week I have been doing streets around
Queanbeyan, Oaks Estate, Captains Flat, Jerrabomberra and Bungendore. 
Why aren't they rendered on the main map?

I've gone to that site where you zoom to level 12 and do a ctrl-click,
I've done it with tiles at home direct selected. I've waited until after
the Wednesday render to get worried. I've cleared Firefox caches.
Nothing.

Well, not completely true. I can see some of my additions if I go to
some zoom levels, with bits missing. At other zoom levels I see nothing
at all. Very frustrating as I don't want to put heaps of effort into
this if it's a bit flakey in the backend!.

All my additions seem to be OK if I go into edit mode. 
Anyone have any suggestions as to what is wrong here?

Please give me reason to stay positive as I think OSM is fantastic and
will be contributing for years if it works properly!
