There seems to be some things that only fit here, like 4wd_only, and platypus' that will propably not have much use beyond Australia. 

If you can show a lot of use for a particular tag it will be more likely to be added as a formal option, or existing tags modified to take into account some unique aspect.

There are a lot of highway=ford out there that would probably be better described as mostly=dry :)

Just add a note to the AU recommendations and deal with it in future.
