I just finished watching this talk and it was very interesting, the summary at the end basically stated if all that was mapped was street information you just have a free/open version of ordinance surveys (UK mapping agency data).

Where as the extra information on POIs etc were what made OSM more useful not just better looking or free or open version of national mapping agency data.

It was also interesting watching some of the talks on routing and tagging for different things, one was political things like in Israel, a street can be 2 ways for Israelis and one way for Palestinians near check points.

Another talk was on cycle way tagging, and the various type of bicycles and bicycle like things that exist, it showed a picture of a person in a wheel chair hooked up to a bicycle like thing with a pair of dogs on the back and an old person up front. Or a pedal powered thing like a bicycle with tank tracks. Was well worth watching for some of the funny pictures :)
