You should check out Telstra's profit sheets some time on silent numbers, there is a lot of people paying a lot of money to keep themselves out of the phone book.

Although with the increasing adoption of mobile phones and dropping rates of land lines, or people going to naked DSL, I guess they aren't earning as much any more.
