If someone would like to see the membership list, they have to put a formal
request to the board. The board may refuse if they think it will be used for
unsuited purposes. The refusal of the board can (of course) be challenged in
court. This is all regulated in the Companies Act. The names of the
boardmembers however are public.
I guess that in Australia similar rules apply.
