Hi Folks,

It doesn’t need to be ‘bush bashing’ it could, in Tasmania, also just as well be alpine moorlands, scree slopes, button grass plains, wet forest, beaches, alpine heath, walking up a riverbed.

Cheers - Phil

“off-track” here implies trail_visibility=no.

If it’s NOT visible on the ground. And it’s NOT part of any signed route. Then it doesn’t meet the verifiability criteria and shouldn’t be mapped.

Exactly, I've just added the term bush-bashing to the wiki to try and make it clearer. If a bushwalking club is doing an off-track walk, where there is no visible path on the ground, and they are bush-bashing, then unless it's a formally signposted route it shouldn't exist as a way in OSM.
