The 'law' is seldom stated on some local sign. Hence children riding
bicycle on the footpath may be held 'illegal' by some but a Police
officer may know the 'Law' and have no problem with it.

One of the shared foot & bicycle ways I know of only has signs .. some 2
km apart... they don't put them every block. I had looked at the local
councils bicycle map to find it and was very nervous using it with the
lack of signs.
