Hi Andrew,
I see you never got a reply to your message. The BiH mailing list is very
quiet, and that kind of represents the mapping community.
I have only visited the country twice, and not personally seen a lot of it.
I did run a small private mapping workshop a couple of years ago to a group
of people living in various towns.
The general quality of OSM is good, especially with regards to road network
and what you can do there. OpenStreetMap in BiH would really benefit from
assistance on the ground, and it needs a community to be built there. There
are of course many approaches as to how you do that of course. The detail
can be good, you'll easily find important POIs mapped such as parks and
cafes - however these vary and sometimes hide a lack of coverage. In my
workshop the people reviewed the map of their town... one person could
identify the music tastes of the local mapper based on what coffee shops
had and hadn't been mapped!

the country, it's wonderful!
