Subject: First Mapping Party, February 21, 2011

Hello All,

The first ever mapping party in Bangladesh was held in a kindergarten school at 
Dhanmondi, Dhaka on Febryary 21, 2011. We are happy that we could arrange the 
event in the International Mother Tongue Day which is a matter of pride of every 
Bengali people. We sincerely thank Community Action, a volunteer group, for 
helping us to arrange this mapping party.

The invitation tot he mapping party was done via Facebook and mailing lists. 
There were about 20 people present int he party. Many other, though were 
interested, could not manage to come due to unavoidable reasons.

There were four Lectures in the party:
1) The introduction of the lecturers to the volunteers, the necessity of 
Leadership: by Sohaila Ridwan, Community Action.
2) Why OpenStreetMap? Prospects and Future: by Syed Ishtiaque Ahmed, OSM-BD, 
HTI, BUET
3) How to make maps: by K. M. Rakibul Islam, OSM-BD, HTI, BUET.
4) Declaration of the future mapping projects and listing of interested 
volunteers.
