I already gave my recommendation in a previous email, so I won't repeat it.
I'd have to agree on a rechargeable battery. The batteries always run
out when you don't have a spare. With a li-ion, you simply recharge when
you're done and it'll always be ready.
Waypoints are nice to have, but not absolutely required for photo mapping.
Driverless devices are also quite rare. You're looking at one that
emulates a mass storage device, or one with memory cards. There are
plenty of devices with multi-OS driver support that would cost less.
Lower cost = more units.
