Hello,
Correct, speed limits become invalid at a junction in Belgium too.
Source: http://www.wegcode.be/wet.php?wet=11&node=art9 :
"*9.9. Verkeersbord C43. Vanaf het verkeersbord tot het volgend
kruispunt, verbod te rijden met een grotere snelheid dan deze die is
aangeduid."*
Additionally several cities are now switching to zonal systems where in
the complete city you can either drive 30, 50 or 70. These are obviously
valid after the junction. However, things get more tricky here:
If you enter a speed limit zone it remains valid until that one is
ended. For example, if you enter a "zone 70" and a few kilometers later
you enter "zone 50", once you leave the "zone 50" you are in the "zone
70" again. This means that the board "zone 50" does not replace the
previous zone, rather it creates a zone in another one. The law requires
to repeat the "zone 70" board at the end of the "zone 50", but not every
city implements this correct. Similarly some cities think that "zone 50"
replaces "zone 70", so that it is sufficient to place an end of the
"zone 50" (e.g. Aarschot).
