Hello,
it's only a run of the script made by gary68
at : http://trac.openstreetmap.org/browser/applications/utils/gary68/unmappedplaces.pl

after i only split the txt file in 2....

basically the script count the number of nodes in a certain distance
of the place node (the distance depends of the place type)

as described here http://bmaron.net/osm_stats/unmapped/result.html

Definitions

City: 4 km radius - sparse/unmapped thresholds 4800/2400
Town: 1 km radius - sparse/unmapped thresholds 400/200
Village: 0.5 km radius - sparse/unmapped thresholds 60/30
Suburb: 0.5 km radius - sparse/unmapped thresholds 60/30

It's not exact and certainly miss a lot of sparsely mapped place (i-e
without name, ..) but it's a good indication :)
