Couldn't we suppose that the trademark is was introduced to limit bad
use of these names, and have, in case it is needed, a way to act
legally by people who considered at that time that this was the best
way to go. This may have changed, for example with the internet.
It is in the interest of everyone that these names, that are for
public use, be well used and figured. I think that OSM complies with
the «good usages». I bet that we will never have any problem with the
trademark owners of the GR for example (provided we do not want to
sell booklets that compete head to head with theirs).
Still we could ask to http://www.grsentiers.org/ the official
permission to use the GR labelling on OSM. I am waiting for your
input, and I am ready to lead the write of a letter to these people
and follow the discussion with you all here.
