It is not built into Mapcontrib. But I gave it some thought, and I think it
can't be very hard to work around that:

(overpass query specialists, this one is for you :)

Biggest issue IMHO is that it will look confusing for the time being, as
Mapcontrib also automatically adds a centroid node to all queried ways.
That is an issue they are aware of though.
