[OSM-talk-be] LiDAR

LiDAR is apparently a technique for gathering precise elevation data. 
Such data is (AFAIU) collected for most of Western Europe, and other 
places besides; and there is a tendency to make the data publicly 
available, too.

How relevant is this for OSM? How accurate is our elevation data at 
present, for Belgium in especial? Would LiDAR data for Belgium (or parts 
thereof :) be collected, and could we get it to be publicly available? 
Mass import into OSM?
