(my last message got flagged, but i think it will go through, so i
wont repeat, it'll probably be on the next load of discussion :) )

Anyway, here's a copy of what on the CanVec file.
Below i have notes on how it relates to OSM (OpenStreetMap) and how it
relates to GeoBase Data.

As you can see, there are "place" and "Theme" key words. .. these can be
matched up with OSM, as we have a tag for each ... or at least should have a
standard tag to use :).
** Land contours would not be needed, however, creating an IMG tile with
just that would make sence, so when we can have a background for the OSM
data (once OSM is compete with everything) .. there is a few other items
that need to be examined to see if these can be imported.

Note: It does not appear to have roads listed... but one of the shape files
i looked at IS roads (all shown as the same type, no difference btw a
residential road and highway or secondary.

Note: Buildings, Cultural features, points of interest, are not set to
specifac point types. Perhaps there is a breakdown of each type in file and
a sub-topic, in which we can catoragize it. ie. Amenity =*, recreation=*,
etc.?
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_Features
so they can line up with the basics.

Note: Bounding Coordinates:
I noticed that these numbers are not exact. .. i'll need to check other
tiles that are fully 'square' (.5x.25) 1 degree cut in a 2by4 .. as it might
be just this one.

Note: Polygon names
Well, if it isn't broken down, i guess it's ok to have it as 1 big grouped
feature type. .. so then just like with all other tags, we go in there on
JOSM and add in things like operator=(regional/local park company) then all
the parks in the area can have a relation= tag to link them all. .. and so,
features like what types of use is allowed 'motor vehicles=no' or
'foot=designated' or 'bicycle=yes' so thats one thing we need to find out.

Note: including reference notation on each point
It looks like each point/line/polygon doesnt have a unique ID code, perhaps
having all the tags on each point would help... especially
Title = 092B06Edition:3.0, and series name=CanVec and issueID=1.0  these
would help, as the program that imports it would take not of that point.

Hopefuly this makes sense,
Cheers
