Hi all,
A few things to note (that i'll be working on too);
A -i think we need a todo list
1- make a wiki chart of all the CanVec data available to us (from that
pdf file, noted earlier) showing what osm tag(s) to be used...
Everthing from Amusement park to Zoo :)
2- finish the GeoBase charts (and include notes on items we dont want included)
3 - check with the sources to make sure we havent missed anything
4 - organize a live video conference, so all action points can be covered
5 - reorganize the wiki page, so facts are on the main part, and
discussion is on the talk part
6 - try to make sure that as many mappers as possable in canada (and
those who contributed to the map in this area) so everyone can have a
say. -this is why we shouldnt rush
B -the Openstreetmap forum is available, and is highly unused. This
might be a better way to organize discussion?
Or perhaps use the wiki talk pages more and the indent option?
Although because we have a wide range of people on the discussion list
here, is it best to keep it the way it is?
C -i'll be in Vancouver in the next couple weeks, if anyone in the
area wants to meet in person to brainstorm. There certainly got to be
areas we havent covered yet. :-)
D -are we in unanamous agreement that the way to do the import is to;
Create a program which will detect existing OSM data and add the UUID#
reference onto the point/way/polygon/relation so that it will not
interfer with existing data, placing only new points/ways/polygons and
so future updates will be able to use this software to only add new
data.?
-if so, then there is no reason to slow down mapping, as OSM takes priority.
E - do we have agreement that the NHN can go ahead with a test import;
provided that, care is taken to only include non existant osm data,
and that as many osm tags are figured out as much as possable?
F - and F, well f is for fun. Remember that we are doing this for
free, and enjoy this awesome challenge.
Have a great day
