Hi all,
A quick update.

I fixed some of the bugs that were found, so now CanVec beta v0.84 is available.

The geobaseNHN BETA v0.15 is available but the script is needing a
little work (its a little more complex)

Since the mapping party Wednesday, we know that all the islands are
going to be mapped, if its tracing or manually mapping, i passed on
the .osm file with the CanVec roads, along with the remainder of the
data that didnt get copied yet. So even though geobase roads haven't
been processed yet; Its available to copy from. (Gulf Islands, that
is)

I added some rivers and water areas and piers to the Saturna and Tumbo
Islands, so please have a look :)
There are 2 versions of man_made pier available, so its hard to say
which one is better. As they are slightly different. Any ideas?

I also see that the protected areas that i loaded as a kind-of-test,
seems to look good on the rendering; So i'll get the rest of the
protected areas for Vancouver Island copied over.

However, in Canada there are 4 levels of parks. ..
International/National/Provincial/Regional/local. .. so i think they
should be rendered differently. Maybe? For now, they dont show up as
strong Olympic National Forest.

There are lots more different types of data available, so i'll be
exploring those soon too.

So in conclusion, based on my experience so far, I recommend the
following method of proceeding with the import.

I can make the .osm files available, and just let people who want to,
load the tiles for their own region that they are personally familiar
with.

I think that the smartest way to keep track of the progress is to use
GoogleDocs Spreadsheet and just give access to those wanting to work
on it.
The spreadsheet can have tabs for each province, and list all the
tiles for each and who is working on it. So I can have a weblink to
the data that is available, and just keep the GoogleDoc's chart
updated as i'm preparing the .osm files. And whoever is using them,
can also edit the chart indicating their username.

This way, as updates happen, everyone will be aware of it.

Since where dealing with 3,000 or more tiles.. and with the
geobaseNHN, it's a different tile system, but having it in a Google
Docs form, and just having the published version always available. I
think that makes sense dont you?

That's all for now,
Cheers,
Sam
