Considering that OpenStreetMap - Canada is not an actual non-profit, all it
is....  is a talk-list discussion list.

Since, there's really only 5 or so 'power users', everyone else focuses on
mapping their own area. And out of the 5, it's really only a few people who
are doing the majority of the import.
I imagine that it's more like 10 people would (physically) show up for it.

So it's really more like a formal mapping party, than an actual conference.
I think it seems bigger than it actually is :)  The entire planet is done by
local people just mapping their own area, and when they go on trips out of
town, they take the GPS and fill-in  whats missing.   And if they like, they
can contact the other local mappers and meet-up for coffee-beer whatever
they decide.

Yup, I'm actually making it up as we go along. As long as were all on the
talk-ca list, everyone contributes as much or as little as they like....
everyone is already up to date on the status.

In short, talk to me if you want to help with the CanVec import, and make
sure you reply-all, and cc:talk-ca list when discussing :)

.. if it's only myself talking ... there's no point in it being a conference
:)

So what i want todo is gather the local area mappers, so we can share whats
going on.
Since, what im doing here, in Victoria, effects Canada-wide, it's a good way
to connect, and share ideas.

Perhaps it be more beneficial if the OSGeoOttawa Chapter and the OSGeoBC
chapter could host, and/or co-host, where myself and other OpenStreetMappers
could  be speakers.  And where the main topic of discussion would be OSM,
then talking about how OSM could be further integrated with the ideas of
other OpenSource projects.

Look forward to hearing your ideas.

P.S.
more work has been done on the wiki page.  As the OSM Community is growing,
with an ever increaasing number of users.
