Hi Richard,
Natural Ressources Canada is already offering an ftp file server to help the community importing the Canvec product at http://ftp2/osm/pub/
Actually no file has been placed in our site yet. I thing it is because the conversion program steel needs corrections to do the job properly with multipolygons. Am I right?
However, if someone is ready to upload converted Canvec files just send me an email and I will give you the uploading procedure
Thanks
Daniel

Subject: [Talk-ca] FTP file server for GeoBase and CanVec import files
Is there a need for a file server for the files used to import GeoBase and Canvec data into OSM? I am in the position to be able to dedicate several GB for the complete storage needs for the import through Think|Haus, Hamilton's Hacker space.
The space will allow for anonymous downloads and for a select number of people to have upload privilages to the account. I am lokking at using it as an ftp server which should satisfy the needs of the Canadian mapping comunity.
If this would suit the needs of the community then it will be set up as ftp://openstreetmap.thinkhaus.org, whichis currently not yet available, for anyone to be able to download files and for a select number of people to upload files to. Please indicate if the community would like this service.
