Dout!
Im just checking the canvec catelogue for roads, and underestimated
how much data that can be extracted.
So what im doing is creating a rules.txt file so then we can use it as
a complimentry product to geobase2osm.py
im calling it canvecROADS-to-osm.bat
(using '-to-' might avoid confusion as this is a java script)
this script wont be able todo any road matching, so its useful for
those areas that the local mappers dont mind having their work
replaced.
(ie my work in tofino)
btw, for manitoba, route #'s are shown, along with the province code,
and the date created&revised, as this will help mappers.
Also, adress range nid is also available.
As well as roadclass is available on all provinces.
Anyway, perhaps its worth me creating the script, so then it lowers
the technical barrier for usage?
I think that Steve is working on a script for road names, for the
missing provinces.
So AFAIK, there is no difference in the quality of data in CanVec to
GeoBase, its just that canvec is packaged as a 'bundle of features'
and geobase is stand-alone.
We have the 'ever-so-valuable' date-created/revDATE. We can use this
tag to compare data with the other (future) sets.
sorry i didnt go into this detail earlier.
Cheers,
Sam
