Umm... better to share what all the fields that are available, then i can
help you decide on which once to use.

Just like with the Ontario Trails Dataset, there are lots of fields... only
a few of them are appropriate for OSM.

the java version :)   shp-to-osm  uses rules.txt files

If you can forward an email message (to the talk-ca list) from someone from
the city where they indicate that you can use it for OSM, that would be the
best.   (assuming that they fully understand what OSM is).

It also needs to be added onto the 'potential Datasources wiki page.
... and on the Canada Import Status spreadsheet. :)

P.S. In the canvec set there are a few trails available (but probably not as
much as your source has),
PPS What NTS tile area are you in?
