Hi,
You might want to check with Yan Morin who has done some of the geobase
National Hydrography network.... for the tiles in the area close by.
Probably in the next few months? the .osm files will be converted &
available to start copying in.
The challenge with running the conversion script now, is that there might
still be the duplicate nodes bug. Which means that extra information gets
converted. Ie. if you use the version that i made, i know that it does
create extra nodes & isn't perfect. (and then it could accidentally get
uploaded).
(as thats the 0.99 version that i last worked on) but now it's a slightly
better version.
Frank Steggink is currently the one who is maintaining the script, so he
might be able to explain further. And if the script is good enough to use,
he might be able to give the OK on it. So then work can still be done while
waiting for the .osm files to be available.
The one option thats available (for sure) is using the WMS Toporama layer &
tracing from that. I posted it to the wiki (but needs further
clarification)
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Canada#Data_Sources
The river/water area data that is shown on the WMS layer is pritty much
identical to the data that will get converted. I dont imaging that rivers &
water areas change that much.
Hope that helps,
& go ahead add your name in the file so we all know that your the main
person for that area.
Cheers,
Sam
