Hi,
Does anyone want to volunteer to contact the Trans Canada Trail, and ask if
they want to donate the tracks & trail information?
It seems that I do have a conflict of interest (when i ask) as my project is
separate from the OpenStreetMap project. (I just use osm data for my work).
Because of this conflict, it makes it perhaps difficult for the TCT to
understand just exactly that were asking of them.
So i think that it would be helpful to indicat in the letter that (myself)
has this conflict of interest, and that "OpenStreetMap" is not (my own
project), where it's undermining the work of the TCT. Instead, OSM is the
project to map out the world, using all free sources available.
I'm (personally) asking them to change their entire phelosophy & approach to
developing the Trans canada Trail... as well as personally, questioning the
approach of the current leadership of that Organization. ... something of
which the TCT doesn't really like. :(
When the OpenStreetMap community is simply asking for a donatation of the
data, so it can be used to further inhance OpenStreetMap. Just with the
simple licence of "you can use the data, as long as you say where it came
from, and as it will be edited, the TCT cannot be liable for the accuracy of
the information. (so users are recommended to check with the TCT website,
for the orgional copy). ... ccBYsa
Since the source date of the information is listed, (as the date registered)
this information should be added as a source tag).
Hopefully, someone else will be able to contact them, and perhaps get a more
direct answer than the one currently on the wiki.
.... as that answer is directed to my personal project, and not (directly)
to OpenStreetMap.
Thanks,
Sam Vekemans
