Hi Richard,
Hopefully the conference will go great.
FYI cc: talk-ca

And a quick update that most of the top half of the Bruce trail (from
about Hamilton Area to Tobermorrey) has now been mapped out on
OpenStreetMap, with the great work from Land Information Ontario, as
they collect all of the trails in the province.
With the recient announcement that Natural Resources Canada has made
the data specifically designed for OpenStreetMap, the next new months
and into the fall will be a time of rapid growth for OSM Canada, and
the province of Ontario.
Once all of the National Data is in OSM, then the rest of the
available Ontario trails can be put into OSM much easier.
Its great to see how collaboration and the wonderful donations of the
Federal Government & the Province of Ontario, along with the combined
efforts of 'Citizen cartographers' who include professional
cartographers (on their day job), where on the evenings and weekends
work on this project for the benefit of all map users.
It's also worth noting that Al Skucas & Murphy Shewchuck (of
TrailsBC) has donated some of their GPS tracks of trails around
Cranbrook BC, and trails around Merrit, and the Kettle Valley Railway
BC which helped to make the OpenCycleMap & HikeBikeMap much better.
Thank you Al & Murphy, the

(check cyclemap from the top right corner drop down list if it isn't
shown, it should all be listed in the light blue colour)
With the continued help of volunteer trail users who contribute their
tracks. Collaboratively, we can create top quality maps where it
contains all the details needed.
No man is an island :)
Have a great conference,
Thanks again for the great donations already, (we havent gone thought
it all yet), keep up the great work, and Land Information serves as a
great mediator for those trail groups/users who might be
uncomfortable with sharing their data to OSM directly.
