Hi Jeff,

Jan Tappenbeck created a cool perl script that will create a GPX track
file that is in a grid form. Awesome
http://svn.openstreetmap.org/applications/utils/osm-matrix/

So from the instructions, i think it shouldn't be that hard to make a
national grid.

perl osm-matrix.pl --name=chile --w=-73.8 --n=-32.65 --e=-69.25 --s=-38.65

What i did is used the steps i wrote here
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Canada_NTS_Tile_System#Sample
and made a sample file of the 011 area.
The KMZ file that NRCan provides has a nice POI in the centre of each
square. This is helpfil to users.

What i'd like to see (somehow) is the entire grid of Canada created
like this, and available as a Transparent WMS layer, so then the Users
can have this layer open while using the Toporama or GeoBaseNHN wms or
the (future CanTopoGeoTIFF WMS).

So showing a point and also showing the name and description of the
tile area '011D12 Halifax'

So it would be awesome to get this done. It's a little labour
intensive as i have to copy each of the converted .gpx files into the
same MapSource file, and do that 16 times over. Perhaps there is a
way to automate the process?

Thanks,
Sam
