It sounds like there is a need for a mapping party/meetup.
OSM meet-ups are slightly different, however, it always depends on who shows
up as OSM is a wonderful eclectic mix of folks from all fields.   A great
way to share the coolest tools available.   :-)

Thought some of you might be interested in the next change camp.  Last
year's initiative brought us this year's focus on creating an open data
community in Ottawa.

This might be a great time to bring some osgeo to this gathering.  Last
years' change camp and the hackfest did not have many osgeo folks at it.
Now that there are some free datasets at the city, perhaps now is a great
time to come.
