[Talk-ca] Finding buried treasure in OSM

Just something for a rainy day if you have a local .OSM file lying around.

Within OSM sometimes things get lost. A bus stop gets tagged amenity=bustop
rather than the recommended way on
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Map_Features. The problem is that this
particular bus stop will remain hidden from the rendering systems which
typically look for highway=bus_stop.

One enhancement made to Maperitive at my request was the ability to export a
list of tags. The command is simply export-tags. It creates a .csv file
which you can bring into something like Excel and then sort the tag values.
It makes it fairly easy to pick out misspellings and to correct them, just
search for the value in JOSM then submit the correction.

You can pick up Maperitive for windows here: http://maperitive.net/download
