Hey, a cool new tool to find local OSM groups. This one uses
OpenStreetMap to find local OSM groups. How cool is that? Matthias,
from the German OSM community, extended the tool used in Germany to
track OSM meetings. It now takes group data automatically from the
OSM wiki, then presents it on the OSM basemap that you can see
here.[1] That means that no matter how and where you organize your
local group, you can put them all on one map. This is wonderful for
new users hoping to find your group, even if they don't know your
group exists.
I've added Fredericton, Toronto and Waterloo Region groups to the map.
Be sure to add yours too!
"Hey, did he say, Fredricton?"
Congratulations, Fredericton! I see Bernie is organizing a second
OpenStreetMap gathering in Fredericton, NB. All OSMers in the area
should be sure to mark the date and attend. It's more fun than you can
imagine. Details and RSVP

Bernie, do you have any tips to offer folks considering starting a
local OSM group?
I know that there have been a few local events in Sherbrooke and
Montreal. Any thought to meeting on a regular basis? You know how
much fun it is to talk maps with other mappers.
The Toronto and Waterloo Region groups are meeting next week. Details at
