Apologies for using English but I am better at reading French than writing
it.
HOT has a couple of tasks in Cameroon such as 1087 that are gradually
getting completed. However although the tile system works fairly well one
drawback is whilst we map every hut huge parts of Cameroun are left
completely unmapped.
Recently I've been using the Digital Globe imagery in Mapbox to map the
imported village nodes and town nodes and the connecting highways. I have
even dropped in a few rivers.
So far I have dropped in about a thousand large villages and towns. For
the most part I have not mapped highway=residential within the towns, I'm
leaving that to the locals or someone else. Those imports where these nodes
do not appear to have any buildings I've tagged fixme no imagery meaning I
can't see any buildings here.
I have probably erred on the side of undertagging the connecting highways,
ie using highway=unclassified rather than primary since I feel this is more
a job for someone local to sort out.
Cameroon is large, my preference is to map the more populated areas first.
Currently I'm looking at the rendered tiles noting where there are village
and town nodes but no connecting highways or landuse=residential then
mapping there.
Does any one have any suggestions as to which areas should be given
priority? I'm told that Digital Globe imagery now covers most if not all
of the country.
Thanks John
