I think we should consult descriptions and guidelines available at the wiki.

It says that we should discuss it here in the list, make a plan, register at the import catalog and inform those in the imports mailing list. So we are just in the very beginning. Technically, there are two major problems I concern.


  1.  The sample data you showed us is in GeoTiff format, which is a raster. How can we convert it to vector?
  2.  What if these imported data conflict or overlapping with existing? (although there’s little existing, but the possibility exists)

Well, cool! But, I've noticed the data is global and such forest data
is also missing for other countries. I don't know if such massive
upload is permitted by rules or policies (of global or other similar
countries). I also think it may be better to be uploaded by some
operators/bots (with the help of automatic scripts). Maybe we should
discuss it with upper community?
