Pour rappel, Aster GDEM est le meilleur MNT (modèle numérique de
terrain) gratuit.
La v2 est enfin publiée (distribution à partir du 17 oct 2011) et
propose des améliorations qualitatives intéressantes:

Pour rappel, leur licence est incompatible avec OSM. Mais vous pouvez
en faire du mashup si votre application entre dans ce cadre:

- Intended users
GDEM data will be distributed to any users (individual/organization)
who conduct work or research in 9 societal benefit areas (disaster,
health, energy, climate, weather, ecosystem, agriculture, and
biodiversity) defined by GEOSS (Global Earth Observation System of
System).
