Hey Everyone!
Thank you a lot for all your questions, suggestions and objections!
I will use https://www.deepl.com/fr/translator and write in French as well.
We use GPS traces (private and non-downloadable) generated by our drivers
to improve the road network. For now, improvements include missing roads,
one-way tags, road access, turn restrictions. The process includes
detecting possible missing road candidates based on the GPS data we have →
review the candidates using publicly available sources (such as OSC and
Mapillary) → editing the map if the candidate is valid (same goes for
one-way tags, road access and turn restrictions). Since we operate in
France, we reach to the local Bolt team when there's a doubt, and they
provide with ground data in such cases.
Regarding the road classifications: This is one of the cases when we need
the local classification consensus. An example could be the following:
based on our GPS data we see that a 4-wheel vehicle passed through a
highway=footpath → we review it and see that actually it's a service road →
we edit it only if we're 100% sure the road classification is incorrect.
>From now on, I will use the dedicated forum topic here as suggested:
https://forum.openstreetmap.fr/t/bolt-road-improvement-en-anglais/6283.
Regarding the datasets we use: so far those are private.
Please let me know if there are subjects that I missed to cover.
Thank you once more for the active discussion.
Regards,
Murad from Bolt Map Production
