J'ai mis à jour la branche avec les deux propositions de respectivement 
Christian Quest et PanierAvide: 
https://github.com/corentinfuret/openstreetmap-carto/tree/laboratory_plain

Pour jouer entre les trois il faut modifier la ligne 614 de ce fichier: 
https://github.com/corentinfuret/openstreetmap-carto/blob/laboratory_plain/style/amenity-points.mss 
et mettre soit laboratory.svg, soit laboratory_cquest.svg ou 
laboratory_panieravide.svg.


Il y a des captures d'écran pour facilement voir la différence:
