Hi
I was filming at Open Government Data Camp in Warsaw last week and we
did a workshop on allotments and open data which used OpenStreetMap.
Fortunately we had a developer there who produced a script which
pulled in all the allotments in the UK from OSM.
Farida Vis, who has got the project started in Manchester, has done a
detailed blog post here
http://blog.scraperwiki.com/2011/10/31/growing-back-to-the-future-allotments-in-the-uk-open-data-stories-and-interventions/
try the Slideshare presentation for mapping examples.
I assured her that we have detailed mapping in the Midlands and with
Manchester and Birmingham we would have two cities to showcase the
project using OSM.
There are some tagging questions: allotments are called community
gardens in Europe and how should prospective growing spaces be tagged?
I'm hopeful that MappaMercia people will be interested. Maybe we
could discuss at Thursday meet?
