 From memory, I think it's primary (OSM "highway=trunk") through  
London, non-primary through Berkshire (OSM "highway=primary"), then  
primary again around Bristol and Bath (OSM "highway=trunk").

As ever, if the signs are green, it's primary ("highway=trunk"); if  
all black-and-white, it's non-primary ("highway=primary").
