Nop's argument was that trees have hither-to-fore been tagged only if
they were isolated, so ones that were close to one another were an
abuse of an established tag, and needed identifying as part of a
cluster.

I think the general view was that it was the notable trees that ought
to be tagged, not the other way round, but by that point Nop had done
lots of changes, and wasn't prepared to debate the matter further.
It's a mess and yes they should be reverted.
