Last year the Ramblers launched an app to encourage people to report
problems with rights of way.

The concept was easy: You pick a 1km square, survey the paths it in, and
report back.

I've just received the following email which gives an indication of public
interest in this sort of thing:

The Big Pathwatch has now closed! *Thank you so much* for joining us and
being part of the first ever nationwide footpath survey. Together, we have
surveyed an incredible *75,836 square km *across England and Wales,
reporting more than *70,000 footpath problems *and *58,000 positive
features*.
