I guess a suitable Overpass search for these would be

[amenity=fuel][name="Total"];
[amenity=fuel][brand="Total"];

But does anyone have any knowledge of whether the brand really has
gone from the UK?

I'll need some form of query to capture these. If they haven't been
consistently tagged, then that might be difficult. Any ideas anyone?
