There may also be merit in tagging a location that is frequently / consistently used for more ephemeral art. Any time you visit, you can reasonably expect to see something, but it might be a different thing from what was there yesterday.

There may be some merit in tagging permanent artwork on the sides of buildings.
But tagging pavement/street art that will vanish after a couple of showers seems pointless.
