I guess there are some for it, and some against it. I don't know where
I stand overall.

Not all Debenhams stores are now disused shops, some are being
converted into flats because overcharging tenants is all the rage these
days. Changing them to disused shops leave them just as wrong as they
currently are, but by part fixing them it can leave the problem while
making it harder to identify.

Debenhams stores are highlighted in Survey Me by Robert Whittaker [1].
The areas with these issues likely have more issues, that we don't know
about. In my opinion, the best thing about Survey Me is that it can
help the area get updated not just the one known issue.

However leaving the bad data in gets kind of embarrassing, especially
when we all know it's bad data. We still have a Maplin store [2] that
we all know closed more than 3 years ago. And there are plenty more
examples like that.

Changing the data to disused:shop or even shop=yes, can still highlight
them in QA tools and editors, StreetComplete will ask you with both the
above tags. We could also open notes at the locations asking people
what has replaced the stores.
