I got it working fine in JOSM thanks Rob, and it's going to be very helpful
in wooded areas and for the outline of old quarries and ditches. I think
there isn't a 2019 edition of the digital surface model, but the 2017
1-metre one can be accessed at
wms:
https://environment.data.gov.uk/spatialdata/lidar-composite-digital-surface-model-dsm-1m/wms?FORMAT=image/png&TRANSPARENT=TRUE&VERSION=1.3.0&SERVICE=WMS&REQUEST=GetMap&LAYERS=LIDAR_Composite_DSM_1m&STYLES=&CRS=EPSG:4326&WIDTH={width}&HEIGHT={height}&BBOX={bbox}
Note another different projection and again JOSM couldn't figure it out
from the getCapabilities address (but Vespucci could).
With this I noticed water bodies tend to be transparent so a good way of
identifying potential water features for a ground survey.
I think for England there is also:
2m DTM 2019 (>85% coverage)
https://data.gov.uk/dataset/67639c1b-ac0e-492a-abba-02ed436f826f/lidar-composite-dtm-2019-2m
2m DSM 2017 (~75% coverage)
https://data.gov.uk/dataset/fba12e80-519f-4be2-806f-41be9e26ab96/lidar-composite-dsm-2017-2m
50cm DTM 2017

50cm DSM 2017
https://data.gov.uk/dataset/0ab507af-cd91-40cb-8524-3efafc267211/lidar-composite-dsm-2017-50cm
25cm DTM 2017
https://data.gov.uk/dataset/3122ade0-2d0d-4ed8-bb1f-e8ce74d0a56b/lidar-composite-dtm-2017-25cm
25cm DSM 2017
https://data.gov.uk/dataset/8b007edd-a886-44ca-9fa0-2ee2efc1248d/lidar-composite-dsm-2017-25cm
Note that there's decreasing coverage at the higher resolutions.
It looks like there aren't ready-made tiles for Scotland or Wales currently?
Jez, good point, although as it happens in all my searching I hadn't come
across that particular page! I'm also wondering if it would be appropriate
to add these to https://josm.openstreetmap.de/wiki/Maps
Cheers
Tom
