You've prompted me to look again at what naptan:verified really means.
I was (mis)interpreting this as meaning the main thing was to verify the existence and location:

Your point is supported by this (under Procedure), so I've probably overreached a bit:

Once I'm done with the housenumber surveying in my area (in a month or two?), I'll likely turn my attention to this excellent project suggestion - https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/CjMalone/diary/392003 - for which many belated thanks.
