[Talk-GB] Household Waste Recycling

So, I looked at Paul's HWRC to see a perfect example of how to tag.  ...and I found that the Wikidata entry to which it is linked has the location some 300m (as the cow flies) away from the location that Paul has mapped (and Paul's mapping is confirmed by G**gle E**th and Str**tview)
Then I looked up one of the 3 HWRC's in my area (yes, 3! - luxury!) and found that it is shown on the OSM map in Wikidata just over 1,000m away from the true position.
Dumb question:  Would it be really good / quite a good idea / a waste of time for us / me to correct the Wikidata, as we / I update the mapping in OSM and link to Wikidata?
Regards,Peter

Took me a few minutes to work out that Paul's HWRC is down as 'Springvale' although clearly, from the sign, it is called 'Penistone'. The pains of data eh! I've put the wikidata id on it from https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Household_waste_in_the_United_Kingdom#List_of_HWRCs
We've got a proof-of-concept web app at https://dev.jackgilmore.me/ which is going to be elevated to "OpenWasteMap.org" soon. Uses Overpass Turbo to pull data combined with Wikidata.

My Apr-Sep was a guess, but apparently a good one.  Mine (https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/636303826 ) clearly needs a bit of surveying.  Maybe I'll have enough stuff to be worth going soon; if so I'll try to rig a couple of cameras in the van.

My local recycling centre helpfully signs the summer/winter opening times, permit system, and prohibited pedestrian access. You can see how I tagged it, with a link through to the source photo, here: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/27445657

(How) do they define "summer" and "winter"?  I've seen definitions that pick up off the clock change days, which I doubt would be possible with the current syntax.  If they call summer April-September that shouldn't be a problem

Allowed - Cars, single axle trailers

Allowed with PERMIT - Vans, Twin Axle Trailers, Pick ups and Flat backs, Pedestrians

Not Allowed - Vehicles with more than 4 wheels, Tipper vehicles, Trailers longer than 3 metres, Trade Waste.

Operated by Suez under contract from Lancashire County Council

Opening Hours are seasonal -  Winter - 0900-1700, Summer 0700-1900 - how can that be tagged?

And is the Household Waste list of sites updated automatically? Cos Farington is in the list but has not an OSM reference?

Would foot=no with motor_vehicle=yes (or motor_vehicle=only) on the gate or access road do the trick?

Seconded: access is a crucial detail (along with opening hours and types of
waste accepted).

They are one of those features that are not only impossible to armchair map
in any detail but actually require a resident to drive through the facility.

Hmm. I have used (and mapped) these in both Oxfordshire and Cornwall.
Both appeared to cater only for vehicles, but I don't think they
actually displayed any notices to that effect. I don't know what would
happen if a pedestrian turned up with a wheelbarrow of waste or a
rucksac of rubbish even if they could walk along the long access roads.

How would you tag that for access? Similarly I have never been asked to
prove residence.
