Hello,
Just to let everyone know, following a discussion with a mapper who had
been using sources not compatible with the OSM licence, I've reverted a
number of changesets mostly in the England, Scotland and Wales. My
initial revert is at https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/110823595 ;
the next thing I need to do is to go through the list of objects that
weren't reverted by that changeset because other mappers had edited them
and remove information that may have been derived from Google, and then
to redact the "potentially derived from Google" changes.
I'm mentioning this here now because
https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/110823595 is in everyone's
history feed and (until I've done some tidying up) there might be minor
breakages where some parts of an edit could be reverted and some not.
Edits by this mapper were actually discussed on this list previously -
see the thread around
https://lists.openstreetmap.org/pipermail/talk-gb/2020-November/025436.html
. As can be seen from
http://resultmaps.neis-one.org/osm-discussion-comments?uid=5229644 (read
down past the "This changeset has been reverted" messages) they do still
seem to be "mapping in a way that provokes comments from other users"
(which isn't normally a good thing), which was part of the reason for
the list posts last year. If anyone sees anything else in those
changesets that needs DWG action, please email data at osmfoundation.org ,
and if you put "[Ticket#2021020110000178]" in the subject line it might
even go directly onto the relevant ticket!
Best Regards,
Andy (from the DWG)
